College students are the future leaders and influencers of tomorrow. If this is true, college students are clearly impactful. The overflow of the Gospel is that we would desire to share it with others. So why not put the Gospel in the hands of impactful people- the future leaders and influencers of tomorrow.
I work for a college ministry called Cru (formerly Campus Crusade for Christ) at Missouri State University and have served there for 2 years. Cru at Missouri State University actually encompasses more than MSU, also including Drury University, Missouri Southern State University, Baptist Bible College, Ozarks Technical Community College, and Southwest Baptist University.
My 3 years as a student at Missouri State and 2 years serving with Cru there have been life-changing.
However, God has new plans for my future ministry...
I will be moving to Bratislava, Slovakia in August 2017 to launch a new campus ministry through Cru. Bratislava is one of the only European capital cities where a college ministry does not exist. In response, myself and a team will take steps of faith to minister to the 66,000 college students of Bratislava for 1-2 years in order to build up key student leaders, passionately following Christ.
In a nation of largely cultural Catholicism, only 1.8% of Slovaks are pursuing a relationship with Christ. Why Slovakia? Why a small European country that might seem to have little impact on the rest of the world? Simple: if God loves Slovaks, we should, too.
With virtually zero laborers reaching college students in Bratislava, why not go?
Over the next year until I leave, I will continue to develop a team of ministry partners that can financially equip me with the capabilities to go. Pastor Paul Washer said, "There are only two ministries in missions: you're either called down into the well, or your called to hold the rope for those that go down. Either way, there should be scars on your hands."
Will you consider holding the rope as I go down this well?
